Qatar Bloodstock stud fees for 2018 announced
2018 stud fees for the Qatar Bloodstock owned roster of stallions have been
at Tweenhills and on the back of a sensational season with his first crop of
two-year-old runners, Havana Gold will stand for £15,000 (October 1st SLF). The
Gr.1-winning miler's first crop already includes two Stakes winners in Havana
Grey, who won the Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes and two Listed races, as well as
finishing second in the Gr.1 Prix Morny, and Qatar Racing's Gr.3 winner
Havana Gold's other winners are Headway, placed in both the Gr.2 Coventry
Stakes and Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes, Hilary Needler Trophy winner Chica La Habana
and exciting debut scorer Tabdeed.
Gold's success on the racecourse has been matched by results in the sales-ring.
Four colts by the sire sold for six-figure sums at Tattersalls' Book 2 Sale in
October, including a 250,000-guinea relative of multiple Gr.1 winner Fame And
Glory and a full brother to Havana Grey, bought by that colt's trainer Karl
alongside Havana Gold at Tweenhills, also under the Qatar Bloodstock umbrella,
is top-class sprinter Hot Streak. Hot Streak has proved very popular in his
first two seasons at stud, and his first foals look set to attract plenty of
interest at the sales this winter. He will continue to stand at a fee of £6,000
(October 1st SLF).
Gr.1 winner Charm Spirit will stand in France at Haras de Bonneval in 2018 as
part of the on-going link-up between Qatar Bloodstock and the Aga Khan Studs.
His fee of €20,000 euros (October 1st SLF) looks outstanding value based on his
sales results this year, with many Charm Spirit yearlings realising six-figure
first Charm Spirit yearling through the ring was a half-brother to dual Gr.1
winner Qemah who was purchased by Shadwell France SNC for €500,000 at Arqana.
MV Magnier and Juddmonte Farms also showed their support for Charm Spirit, with
the former buying a colt for 210,000 guineas and the latter securing a colt for
130,000 guineas, both from Tattersalls' Book 1 Sale. Charm Spirit will return
to Tweenhills for the 2019 breeding season.
Redvers, Manager for Qatar Bloodstock, said: "We
have been thrilled with Havana Gold's first runners and he looks tremendous
value at £15,000 and he is close to being full for 2018."
Streak had outstanding natural speed and his foals look like they will share his
precocity and pace. We've had very good feedback from breeders and can't wait
to see them at the sales.
Spirit's yearlings were very well received, which was no surprise considering
he was a triple Gr.1 winner, and we are expecting him to make a big impact with
his first crop of runners.
we have to announce the retirement of Harbour Watch from stud duties on
veterinary advice. He has arthritic joint issues relating to an accident
incurred during his racing career. His many winners include the Gr.2 Prix
Robert Papin scorer Tis Marvellous and Santry, who was one of this season's
leading two-year-olds prior to sadly being fatally injured."
Gold and Hot Streak will be available for viewing at Longholes in Newmarket
during the Tattersalls Mare Sale from Saturday 2nd until
Wednesday 6th December.
