Stud Manager

Pieter Van Zyl

Tell us about yourself…

I grew up on a farm and horses have gone from being a hobby to my profession. I did an Equine Studies course in South Africa and after that I came to England for eight years, working on various studs. I started at Tweenhills in 2000 and then Genesis Green Stud, Kingwood Stud and finished off at Whitsbury Manor Stud. I then went back to South Africa for the last 12 years where I managed Klawervlei Stud. It’s very much gone full circle with me being back at Tweenhills.

How has Tweenhills changed?

A lot has changed in the years I’ve been away! It's very nice to see. Obviously the company has grown a lot and I’m excited to be part of the team to continue to build it.

And what about your time off?

Well, a bit of golf is always nice, and I have two young twin boys who keep me very busy too. I also enjoy the rugby; obviously I support the Springboks but in England I’ve supported Gloucester ever since I was here the first time around – they’ve had some ups and downs during that time!
