Flaming Princess at the breeze-ups
Another 2-year-old winner for Hot Streak
Tweenhills' first-season sire Hot Streak had his second 2-year-old winner on Wednesday when Flaming Princess made a successful debut at Nottingham.
Flaming Princess had been bought by Matt Coleman on behalf of Peter Swann's Cool Silk Partnership for £60,000 after recording a bullet time at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up Sale in April and she made just about all of the running in the EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes over five furlongs.
Ridden by Barry McHugh for trainer Richard Fahey, 12/1 shot Flaming Princess hugged the rail before showing a tenacious attitude to regain the lead from joint-favourite Al Raya, who had cost £450,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale. The pair came clear of the rest and look smart fillies in the making.
Flaming Princess is out of Qatar Princess who herself was a fast breezer, bought by our own David Redvers for €37,000 at the Goresbridge May Flat Sale in 2012. She later changed hands for 100,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale after her half-sister Hawksmoor had won the Gr.2 German 1,000 Guineas. Qatar Princess is by Marju.
Flaming Princess was a successful pinhook for former jockey Daniel Benson who had purchased her for £20,000 and consigned her at Ascot under his Dunsany Stables.
