Buckaroo declared for Irish 2000 Guineas

Tweenhills homebred Buckaroo is the bookmakers’ second favourite for the race behind QIPCO 2000 Guineas runner-up and dual Gr.1 winner Native Trail. Buckaroo will be ridden by Shane Crosse for trainer Joseph O'Brien.

Buckaroo sailed through his trial for the Irish 2000 Guineas when winning the Listed Tetrarch Stakes over this C&D earlier this month by four lengths. Behind him were Wexford Native, New Energy and Malex - all reoppose him on Saturday.

Atomic Jones won the Gr.2 Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown in which Buckaroo was an unlucky sixth, but Atomic Jones was beaten nine lengths by Stone Age over a mile and a quarter on his return.

Completing the line-up are Gr.3 Eyrefield Stakes winner Duke de Sessa, a second British raider in Imperial Fighter and Ballydoyle’s only representative Ivy League.

Buckaroo was born and raised at Tweenhills in Gloucestershire, England – home to the Qatar Racing Stallions and most of our mares and youngstock.

His dam, Listed winner Roheryn, remains at Tweenhills and has a two-year-old Roaring Lion colt named Middle Earth in training with John & Thady Gosden, a yearling filly by Siyouni and a colt foal by Kameko.

Buckaroo also holds an entry for the Cazoo Derby at Epsom on June 4, as well as for the St James's Palace Stakes and King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, Irish Derby back at the Curraghand Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
