Ebor winner Daiquiri raised at Tweenhills

£500k Sky Bet Ebor hero Daiquiri Bay was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills. He had also won both his previous starts this year, inc. the Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot and has been a wonderful advert for our prime stock rearing land in Hartpury.

One of the stars of the season so far, Daiquiri Bay, entered the world at Tweenhills and was sold by us as a 100,000gns foal at the Tattersalls December Sale. 

The son of New Bay was always a cracker and, after being sold again by Yeomanstown Stud to Highflyer Bloodstock and Alan King, he shaped well on his sole start as a 2yo. 

Daiquiri Bay returned in May 2025 with a bang, winning a Chester maiden by 5 lengths and went onto run with credit in competitive handicaps at Royal Ascot, Goodwood’s Qatar Festival meeting, York’s Ebor meeting and Newmarket’s big October fixture.

The form was already in the book by the time Daiquiri Bay returned as a 4yo this season, but he has still improved at a rate of knots since being gelded over winter. 

After his win at Newmarket in early-May, Daiquiri Bay followed up in the illustrious Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot and, after 2 months off, took the £300,000 first prize in the 22-runner Ebor Handicap at York.

Daiquiri Bay’s earnings now stand at over £445,000 and with a Timeform Rating of 115, he looks a very serious ‘Cup’ horse for a trainer that saddled the very popular Trueshan to win three staying Gr.1s on the Flat. 

After Daiquiri Bay had won in a 3-way photo, Alan King told the press:

"We sat down after Ascot and Rossa Ryan said put him away for the Ebor. He had a tough race at Ascot where he broke the track record and we were able to give him a break and then build him up.

"His preparation has gone great and the rain came, which I always thought would suit him. It's a very special day and I'm blown away – this is what we do the job for. I've always tried to win an Ebor but the last few horses we've run in it have probably been exposed, whereas he's still on the up."

Daiquiri Bay’s dam Strawberry Martini was bought by Tweenhills for 55,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls December Mare Sale and produced other horses by Roaring Lion, Havana Gold and Kameko.
