Flash of Fire smokes them on debut
Qatar Racing 2yo homebred filly Flash of Fire, who was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills, made a winning debut at Doncaster on Wednesday evening for James Ferguson and Oisin Murphy.
Flash of Fire is out Lightening Quick, who holds a place in the hearts of all at Qatar Racing as she was a Gr.3 winner out of Sheikh Fahad’s first Gr.1 winner, Lightening Pearl.
Lightening Quick has already produced sprint winners McIntosh and Starstriker but Flash of Fire looks her best yet after her smooth debut victory. Granted, it wasn’t a deep fillies’ novice but Flash of Fire was always prominent and burst through on the rail to win cosily.
James said: “All credit to Sheikh Fahad and the Qatar team, the Tweenhills Stud that reared her. They’ve done a wonderful job. She’s unbelievably straightforward and she always has been since she came in. We’re just grateful for the opportunity to take her to the races.”
By Wotton Bassett, Flash of Fire has all the attributes to make her mark in Stakes races in time but it will be another novice under a penalty next time.
