Former Tweenhills stallions shine at Royal Ascot
Former Tweenhills sire Charm Spirit enjoyed his first success as a sire at the highest level with Shaquille winning the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last week.
The 3yo colt was bred by Martin Hughes and Michael Kerr-Dineen and born and raised at Julie Camacho’s farm who also train him. An impressive winner of the Listed Carnavon Stakes at Newbury last month where he beat Gr.2 winner Nobel Style and Gr.3 winner Rumstar, he lined up for the feature at Royal Ascot as a 9-1 shot and seemingly had little chance after being slowly away out of the starting stalls. However he showed an electric turn of foot to power clear to win by 1 ¼ lengths with Gr.1 winner Little Big Bear in second.
Harbour Watch might have been retired from stud duties at Tweenhills in 2017, but he continues to leave a mark at the highest level and enjoyed more Group success at the weekend courtesy of Pyledriver winning the Gr.2 Hardwick Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Bred by Knox & Wells Limited & R Devlin, the 6yo colt is the first foal out of the Le Harve mare La Pyle who was a winner over 1m2f and was bought back by his breeders for just 10,000gns when going through the ring at the Tattersalls December Foal Sales in 2017.
Since then, he has gone on to earn connections just under £2,000,000 in prizemoney and 7 Stakes wins including the Gr.1 Coronation Cup at Epsom and the Gr.1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes.
The winning breeders of both horses are now also eligible for our Your Success=Our Success scheme which gives the breeders of Stakes winners by a Qatar Racing stallion credit to the value of the nomination to be used towards one or more of the Qatar Racing Stallions the following season.
