Grandson of Lady Rebecca tops sale

The second day of the August Sale at Goffs UK in Doncaster was topped by a grandson of Tweenhills' foundation mare Lady Rebecca.

The yearling son of Blue Bresil (sire of Royal Pagaille amongst others) and winning hurdler Mary Eleanor was born and raised at Tweenhills before being consigned by Paul and Sara Thorman's Trickledown Stud.

He sold for £44,000 to The Cashman's Rathbarry Stud and we wish them the very best of luck.

Mary Eleanor also has a two-year-old filly by Kayf Tara at Tweenhills. The mare herself is now nine and in foal to Enable's sire Nathaniel.

Lady Rebecca was bought for just 400gns as a yearling and went on to win 13 of 19 races for Venetia Williams and the Kinnersley Optimists, including three renewals of the Gr.1 Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The late Lady Rebecca - who has a yard named after her at Tweenhills, where she's buried - is also the dam of Listed bumper winner Lord Generous (by Generous) as well as other winners Lady Karina (Kayf Tara) and Lady Samantha (Fraam).
