High point for British Camp on debut

Homebred Qatar Racing colt British Camp made a very promising winning debut at Kempton on Wednesday and looks a horse with plenty of potential.

Stunning 3yo British Camp lined up against some useful rivals – including two previous winners – in a 1m3f novice at Kempton on Wednesday evening and got up on the line. Overcoming greenness, British Camp found plenty for pressure under an educational ride from Kevin Stott and looks the type to improve significantly next time.

British Camp comes from the Andrew Balding yard, which isn’t known for debut winners. He also has a pedigree that suggests the best is very much yet to come as he’s a Lope de Vega half-brother to last year’s Gr.2 Queen’s Vase runner-up Saint George (also born at Tweenhills), out of Stakes-placed Galileo mare Lady Dragon.

British Camp was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills and he gave us all plenty to cheer last night. We are very hopeful there’ll be many more good days to come from this strapping colt.
