Hong Kong star by Tweenhills stallion
Waikuku, a rising star in Hong Kong who won Gr.2 Jockey Club Mile over the weekend, is by late Tweenhills stallion Harbour Watch.
Waikuku inflicted defeat on seven-time Gr.1 winner Beauty Generation in the Jockey Club Mile under Joao Moreira for trainer John Size, having finished third to his old rival last month.
It was a fifth win in Hong Kong for the son of Harbour Watch and the next big target is the Hong Kong Mile on December 8.
Waikuku was bred by Shane Molan out of Danehill Dancer mare London Plane. He was consigned by Riversfield Stud at the 2016 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and bought by John Oxx for €33,000.
Waikuku raced just twice for Oxx and original owner Thomas Breen, winning a Leopardstown maiden on his return as a three-year-old. Oxx had said after that race that Waikuku was the best horse he'd trained "for a few years".
