Hot Streak yearlings in high demand at Tattersalls

Yearlings by Tweenhills’ first-season sire Hot Streak made a very deep impression at the Tattersalls Book 2 Sale, with four selling for six-figure sums.

On Monday, two high-profile Hot Streaks were signed for by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s Shadwell Estate Company, with the most expensive of the pair (200,000gns) being Lot 533 (pictured) from Lynn Lodge Stud.

Bred by Peter Molony of Rathmore Stud in Co Limerick, he’s a half-brother to Notturno Ligure, who won as a three-year-old in Italy this year. The dam, placed Elusive City mare Never In, is a half-sister to Stakes-placed sprinter Colour of Love, and it’s the family of sires Footstepsinthesand, Power and Pedro The Great.

The other Hot Streak purchased by Shadwell was also a colt, Lot 601 from Tally-Ho Stud who made 150,000gns. He’s a brother to useful sprinters Poyle Vinnie and Bounty Pursuit, and out Oasis Dream mare Poyle Dee Dee, who is a half-sister to Gr. 2 Lowther Stakes winner Jemima. Bred by the late Cecil Wiggins.

On Tuesday, Hot Streak had two more colts turn heads. First came Lot 973 who was pinhooked by Whatton Manor Stud and purchased here by Australian-based Kingcraft Bloodstock for 200,000gns. He's a half-brother to Stakes performers Switchie and Jeanie Johnston, out of Vettori mare Bahamamia who is a half-sister to Gr. 2 winner Accento.

Even better was to follow as Lot 962, a Hot Streak colt out Street Boss mare Bossanova Lady, sold for 220,000gns and also purchased by Kingcraft Bloodstock. This colt - whose is from the immediate family of Qatar Racing's Gr. 3 winner La Rioja - was bought Jamie Railton for 40,000gns at Tattersalls' December Foal Sale and consigned by him here.

Joseph O’Brien also took home a Hot Streak from the sale, signing for Lot 659, a colt consigned by Glenvale Stud. Still owned by the colt's breeder Neville Poole, the dam, winning Oasis Dream mare Rose Ransom, is a full sister to Gr. 2 Debutante Stakes third Rare Ransom. Another trainer who now has a Hot Streak under his tutelage is Declan Carroll, who bought Lot 866, a colt from Catridge Farm.

After day two, Hot Streak's average for Book 2 was a superb 126,000gns - significantly higher his fellow first-season sires such as Muhaarar, Night of Thunder, Free Eagle and Gutaifan.

We thank breeders for their continued to support of our stallions and wish the very best of luck to all new connections.
