Impressive debut for Harbour Watch 3yo Batten The Hatches

The three-year-old son of Harbour Watch, Batten The Hatches, kept on on strongly to win the 32Red.com Maiden Stakes over 6f at Newcastle today by 2l on his racecourse debut.
A half-brother to the Gr.2 winning sprinter Pearl Secret he looks a very exciting prospect for the season ahead.
Trained by David Barron for owner Harrogate Bloodstock & Partner, he was ridden by Phil Makin who said: "Batten The Hatches is a nice big horse. He is a work in progress and his best days are ahead of him."
Batten The Hatches is from the first-crop of Harbour Watch, sire of the two-year-old Gr.2 winner Tis Marvellous and US Stakes winner Miss Sugars. Be sure to follow his first three-year-olds in 2017!
Bred by Whitsbury Manor Stud, he is out of the Rossini mare Our Little Secret.
