King of Change: Horses To Follow 2026

King of Change impressed breeders and bloodstock agents when he paraded alongside Kameko at Longholes in Newmarket during last week’s Tattersalls February Sale, and below are his runners who should continue to catch the eye on the racetrack in 2026.

King of Change’s heavy-ground Pontefract Listed winner Shayem (dam by Exceed And Excel) will take on a different challenge on February 14 when he lines up for the Gr.3 Saudi Derby on dirt. He showed with his two other wins as a 2yo that he doesn’t need testing conditions and he’s a very exciting 3yo from King of Change’s small crop born in 2023.

Another King of Change runner facing a new frontier in 2026 is Onemoredance (Poet’s Voice). She was bought by David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Racing for 240,000gns following her Listed win in Ireland and will continue her racing career with Brendan Walsh in the US. Onemoredance won five times as a 3yo in 2025 and could head right to the top in North America.

With Lady With The Lamp having retired to the breeding paddocks, the other Stakes winner by King of Change still in training is Miss of Change (Frankel) who has been running in Dubai.  Winner of the Czech Derby and a French Listed race last year, she will find easier Stakes opportunities back in Europe.

Gharamy (Poet’s Voice) very nearly became King of Change’s fifth individual Stakes winner when beaten a neck in a Local Gr.3 at Riyadh in late-January. She has won big-field races in 2024, 2025 and 2026, and shares her damsire with Onemoredance.

Coedana (Mr Greeley), Lady Roxby (Elnadim) and Regal Charm (Invincible Spirit) may all be fillies with official ratings in the 80s but each has the prospect of getting some black type in 2026. Lady Roxby was a 180,000-guinea breezer and was beaten a neck or less on three of her final four starts last season.

Jet Black Jewel (Guitaifan) went close to making a winning debut in a 17-runner Leopardstown maiden last May and was sold to continue her career in the US. A minor issue has prevented her from making her debut Stateside, but she remains another useful prospect for King of Change.

There has long been the impression that there is a bigger performance in River King (Indian Ridge) than we’ve seen so far, acknowledging he won a novice easily when last seen in June. He has been gelded and could still be well handicapped off a mark of 85.

All this and we still haven’t mentioned the horse who has recorded the highest RPR by one of King of Change’s progeny: Barbizon (Hard Spun) ran to 110 when winning for the second time on the Flat in Ireland last September. Though also a winner over hurdles and fourth in a Gr.2 in that sphere, it would be no surprise to see him successfully return to racing on the level in 2026.

Finally, a mention for Key of The Moon (Teofilo) who won a 2yo maiden in Italy in December, beating a daughter of Kameko. Key of The Moon has improved by the run in a short career so far and could be one for the Italian fillies’ classics.
