Looking forward to Royal Ascot
It's an exciting time for Tweenhills as our sires with runners, Havana Gold and Harbour Watch, will both be represented by horses with winning chances in the two-year-old races at Royal Ascot.
First-season sire Havana Gold, a son of Teofilo out of dual Gr.3-winning sprinter Jessica's Dream, looks likely to have five runners over the course of the five-day meeting.
Two of these go on the opening day as Headway is in the Coventry Stakes over six furlongs and the Qatar Racing-owned Marchingontogether is entered into the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes over five furlongs.
Havana Gold will also be represented in the Gr. 2 Queen Mary on Wednesday, again over the minimum trip. Chica La Habana produced a very quick display at the Ascot Breeze-Up Sale, and made the perfect start to her racing career when coming late and fast in the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley recently. Qatar Racing's Navan Maiden winner, Treasuring is also in the line up.
Havana Gold will have two colts represent him at the meeting. Havana Grey all-the-way win in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown means Havana Gold is the only first-season sire in Europe to produce a stakes winner, and the colt looks likely to run in the Gr. 2 Norfolk Stakes on Thursday.
Acclamation's son Harbour Watch is the sire of Santry who like Havana Grey is among the favourites for the Norfolk. He has looked a stakes horse in the making in winning both his starts, namely the first division of the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster.
Harbour Watch will also be represented by his 3yo crop, courtesy of Gr.2 Robert Papin winner Tis Marvellous who holds an entry in the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup on Friday. In addition, Queen Of Time is set to run in the Listed Sandringham Handicap on Wednesday. Unbeaten as a three-year-old and a comfortable two length winner on her last start at Goodwood she looks to have every chance.
