Ocean Road wins the Gr.1 Gamely Stakes

Ocean Road picked up her first win at the highest level on Monday in the Gr.1 Gamely Stakes at Santa Anita for owners Qatar Racing.

The 4yo filly was bought by David Redvers at the Tattersalls Book 1 Yearling Sale for 150,000gns from Lodge Park Stud.

Bred by Middlelane Farm, she is the 3rd Stakes winner for her dam Love and Laughter who has already produced multiple Gr.1 winner Wigmore Hall and German Stakes winner Lady Liberty.

Her half-sister Long Haired Lover was also bought by David Redvers and raced in partnership with David Howden and Nick Wheeler before being sold by Tweenhills in foal to Zoustar at the Tattersalls December Sales last year for 90.,000gns.

Ocean Road was previously trained by Hugo Palmer where she was placed in 3 Stakes races and finished 6th in last years Gr.1 Oaks before transferring to Brendan Walsh.

After the race her trainer commented “I think there's some more improvement in her and I can't see why she wouldn't keep going forward."
