Spell Master winner #8 for Kameko
Kameko took his record to individual 8 winners from 2 runners when Spell Master shared the spoils at Goodwood on Saturday. He was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills before selling as a foal for 145,000gns.
Spell Master has progress with each of his runs and, after finishing runner-up to our own colt Attack at Epsom, he went a place better over 7f at Goodwood – well, he dead-heated with Hott Shott after being caught on the line.
Spell Master is trained by Andrew Balding and was ridden by Oisin Murphy, the combination that, of course, combined to dual Gr.1 success with his sire Kameko. Spell Master carries the Derby-winning colours of Mr Saeed Suhail.
Spell Master is the third foal out of Stakes-placed Al Kazeem mare Golden Spell, who was sold from Tweenhills to Oakgrove Stud for 300,000gns at the 2022 Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
After his sale from Tweenhills as a foal, Spell Master changed hands again for 160,000gns at the Tattersalls October Book 1 Yearling Sale, bought from Mountain View Stud by Blandford Bloodstock, acting on behalf of Suhail.
Kameko sits high up on the list of Leading First Crop Sires in Europe. His sons New Century, Rajeko and Wimbledon Hawkeye have all finished in the frame in Stakes races.
