Success for the first Tweenhills yearling consignment for 12 years
We are proud to say the first Tweenhills consignment of yearlings for 12 years was a glorious success. Tweenhills consigned yearlings at Tattersalls October Book 2 and 3 Sales in Newmarket this autumn and they included 15 yearlings at Book 2 who sold for an average of £127,286. They were, of course, topped by the stunning 1,000,000-guinea colt by Tweenhills stallion Kameko out of Potent Embrace.
The full brother to this year’s 2yo Gr.1 winner New Century – both born at Tweenhills – set a record price for a colt at Book 2 when sold by Tweenhills to Godolphin. It was the second highest ever price at the sale by just 50,000gns. What’s more, only seven colts sold for more at this year’s Tattersalls Book 1 Sale, among them another colt born and nurtured at Tweenhills in the son of Dubawi and Molly Malone, who made 1,500,000gns.
Kameko's average for four yearlings sold in the ring at Book 2 was 273,000gns, which placed him behind only Sea The Stars by average at this year's Book 2 Sale. Three of those Kamekos were sold by Tweenhills, as was another sold privately. A gorgeous Kameko colt also sold for 200,000gns at Book 1.
Another high-priced yearling sold from the Tweenhills consignment was a Too Darn Hot colt out of Royal Ascot Gr.2-placed Sparkle Roll, who was secured for 200,000gns by Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock. Tweenhills also sold yearlings by Zarak, Zoustar, Showcasing and Make Believe, all producers of Gr.1 winners.
Tweenhills’ Owner and Managing Director David Redvers said: “To sell a horse of calibre of the Kameko colt out of Potent Embrace for Qatar Racing was extremely special. He was born at Tweenhills and being by Kameko, whom we stand, makes it even more poignant.
"I am especially pleased as this is the first year for a dozen years that we are selling under our own name again and the Tweenhills team, both at home and at the sales, have done an absolutely stunning job.
“Our thanks must go to all our owners who trusted us with their horses, and we now look forward to an exciting draft of mares and foals at the Tattersalls December Sales”
