Sunlight Completes Five-Timer in Group 3

Zoustar's daughter Sunlight won her third Stakes race when making all in the Gr. 3 Canadian Club Magic Night Stakes on Saturday...

Having already won the Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast and the Gr. 2 Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill Gardens, Sunlight returned to the latter track to take the Magic Night.

She was soon in front and kept pouring on the pressure until late on, eventually hitting the line with a length and a quarter to spare over the runner-up, Godolphin's Cristobal.

Luke Currie, who has ridden Sunlight in five of her six starts, said:

"She was really good. She was fast, a bit on the fresh side so that should take that edge off her heading into next week.

"We went pretty quick through the middle stages and did get a bit tired late but I think she was entitled to.

"She'll be hard to beat next week."

Currie was referring to the Gr. 1 Golden Slipper back at Rosehill on Saturday for which Sunlight is now favourite.

Sunlight was bred in partnership by Widden Stud, whose Katie Thompson is one of the filly's owners, who also include Tweenhills' Hannah Wall.

Sunlight is a half-sister to Gr. 3-placed Sheikha and is the third winner out of Charge Forward mare Solar Charged, winner of the Gr. 3 ATC Kindergarten Stakes on her second start.

Solar Charged has a yearling full sister to Sunlight who was knocked down to McEvoy Mitchell Racing/David Redvers Bloodstock for $600,000 at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Solar Charged foaled a Sebring filly last October and was bred back to Zoustar, who has 13 entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Sunlight has been a fine advert for her sire Zoustar, who also registered a metropolitan double last Wednesday courtesy of Lean Mean Machine and Madam Rouge.
