TBA Flat Breeder of The Year nomination for Tweenhills
Tweenhills have been nominated for Flat Breeder of The Year at the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Awards 2025.
The shortlisted nominees have been revealed for five of the 12 award categories at this year's TBA Flat Breeders' Awards Evening, which takes place at Chippenham Park on Wednesday, July 9.
Tweenhills join Cheveley Park Stud, Godolphin and Juddmonte Farms Ltd in the Flat Breeder of The Year – what company to be in.
Tweenhills has indeed enjoyed a stellar time of things over the past year. Buckaroo, New Century and King of Gosford were all Gr.1 winners born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills in Hartpury, Gloucestershire.
Tweenhills has also produced Flight, runner-up in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas this spring, and Gr.2-winning fillies Mgheera, Queen of The Pride and Running Lion, the last-named scoring at Royal Ascot for owner-breeder David Howden.
Add to the roll of honour, Gr.2-placed trio Heart of Honor, Saint George and Valiant King, and Gr.3 winner and Gr.2-placed Middle Earth – three of those by our late superstar Running Lion.
Tweenhills stood Zoustar for 6 breeding seasons and his Northern Hemisphere include Gr.3-paced Jarraaf and Listed winner Mia Harria, both born at Tweenhills, along with Kameko’s Listed winner American Gal. There’s also Kameko colt Jackknife, who is Listed-placed after just two starts and was fancied for the Gr.3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot but was withdrawn.
Further to this, Tweenhills was represented by no less than three runners in the last Melbourne Cup including the first two in the betting in Middle Earth and Buckaroo.
Tweenhills also bred and raised two outstanding yearlings who sold for 1,000,000gns at the Tattersalls October Sales last autumn. Namely a Dubawi colt out of Gr.1 winner Molly Malone who sold for 1,500,000Gns and a Kameko colt out of Potent Embrace (so a full brother to New Century) who sold for 1,000,000Gns, smashing the record for the highest ever priced yearling to be sold in Book 2.
We are extremely proud that in 2024, the 52 yearlings prepped at Tweenhills, averaged £105,986 across all sales.
We are delighted to be nominated among such exalted company and will enjoy the evening on July 9. Here’s to more success in the future.
