Light of Dawn: born and raised at Tweenhills

02 Sep 2026

Tweenhills-bred 2yo Light of Dawn wins Gr.3

Star 2yo filly Light of Dawn, who was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills, gained reward for good runs in Stakes company – inc. at Royal Ascot – when winning the Gr.3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.

Light of Dawn has created a big impression multiple times this season. After selling from Tweenhills as a foal for 140,000gns to Longways Stable, she was then sold by them for €625,000 at the Arqana May Breeze to Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of Wathnan Racing

She then made a sparkling winning debut at Carlisle in June for Karl Burke. An improved 3rd in the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot was followed by another Gr.3 3rd at Deauville in early-August.

Light of Dawn went off 4/1 for the 8-runner Gr.3 Prestige Stakes and saw the 7f out well, even on soft ground, to win by 1¼ lengths from Eabha and debut winner Coaxed.

She has been ridden on all 4 starts by James Doyle, who said:

“She's very athletic, and she likes to get on with things. I pushed her button a bit early [in the Albany] to make sure we didn't get traffic problems. I just exposed her to the big crowds at the stands' rail a bit too early and she got a bit lost. Sun Goddess and Libertango came over the top and we've seen what they have done on recent starts.

“Then we went over to Deauville and the ground was very quick. She didn't act on it at all but back on a slower surface and up to 7f, we felt it was the right thing to do, and she's been produced expertly by Karl and his team.

“She is certainly one to dream about with what we can do next year.”

Light of Dawn was bred by The An Ghalanta Partnership out of 2yo Listed winner An Ghalanta, a fantastic mare for Tweenhills as also the dam of Stakes fillies Miaharris, Bletchley and Time Scale.

An Ghalanta was sold to Kildaragh Stud for 105,000gns in 2024 and has a filly by Dark Angel selling at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale.
