Tweenhills-bred Frankel filly makes winning start

Oscar Nominee took her first step on the way to stardom when making a winning debut at Wolverhampton on Tuesday. The Frankel filly was born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills for her owner-breeder Qatar Racing.

Oscar Nominee lined up against six rivals in a 9.5f maiden at Dunstall Park and came from last to first with an impressive change of speed, hitting the line with a length to spare over fillies with experience.

It was another winner in the Qatar Racing colours trained by James Ferguson, with Jonny Peate in the saddle. Oscar Nominee’s effort can be marked up too as she overcame the run of the race and was well on top at the finish.

The 3yo filly is out of Danza Cavallo, also the dam of Gr.3 winner Cheshire Academy. Danza Cavallo was purchased by David Redvers in 2019 on behalf of Qatar Racing.

Oscar Nominee was born at Tweenhills in 2023 (pictured as a foal) before being broken in nearby in 2025 and sent into training in Newmarket. James Ferguson has always seen her as a filly who will reap the rewards of a patient approach, so she looks to have a bright future.
