Tweenhills-bred Military Law wins another Gr.2
Marine Bleue was a very successful member of the Tweenhills broodmare band until her passing in December 2022 and her son Military Law, born and raised at Tweenhills, won his second Gr.2 in Meydan on Saturday at the ripe old age of 9!
Military Law entered the world at Tweenhills back in April 2015, the result of a mating between Dubawi and Gr.3-winning Desert Prince mare Marine Bleue.
After winning 3 of his 6 starts for Qatar Racing, Military Law was sold to continue his career in the Middle East in 2019. It didn’t take him long to hit the ground – dirt, in particular – running as he won a Listed race at Meydan later that year for trainer Musabeh Al Mheiri.
Military Law won the Gr.2 Al Maktoum Challenge R1 as a 6yo in 2021 and made an amazing return to form this year, every bit as good as ever when landing the Gr.2 Al Maktoum Classic on Saturday, both races also at Meydan.
The 9yo overcame odds of 28/1 to score by a length and more on Saturday from 5yos Walk of Stars and Clapton (well-backed favourite) in the hands of new partner, 49-year-old Panamanian Oscar Chavez.
The Al Maktoum Classic was the highlight of Emirates Super Saturday and Military Law could now take his chance in the big one, the Gr.1 Dubai World Cup on Saturday 30 March.
Incredibly, Military Law was denied his chance of running in the 2021 Dubai World Cup when he broke loose at the stalls and was subsequently withdrawn. Good luck this time Military Law!
Marine Bleue's winning daughter Swoon is at Tweenhills and will visit Kameko this year. Marine Bleue is also the dam of promising 3yo filly Tiptoe, a winner when last seen in October.
