Khozan as a foal at Tweenhills
Tweenhills-bred son of Zoustar scores on debut
Three-year-old colt Khozan, bred by David and Fiona Howden and born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills, made an impressive winning debut on the all-weather at Chantilly on Thursday.
Khozan is by Zoustar out of Speightstown mare Farmah, who was purchased by David Redvers on behalf of the Howden’s for 500,000gns at the 2021 Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
Four months after the purchase, Farmah’s son Zawaaya finished a head 2nd in a Listed race, and the mare went onto produce dual Stakes-placed 2yo filly Running Queen for the Howdens.
Her latest runner, Khozan, was sold for €85,000 as a yearling when bought by Mandore International Agency and former trainer John Hammond.
He made his debut for owners Al Shaqab Racing and Gerard Augustin-Normand and trainer Christopher Head at Chantilly and made all the running, overcoming some greenness to score by ¾ length.
The latest Khozan looks a fine prospect and it’s intriguing that he shares his name with another colt owned by Al Shaqab Racing who won both his starts as a 3yo in the US in 2015.
