Tweenhills sell €1.25m yearling at Arqana
Tweenhills sent a draft of three high-quality yearlings to the Arqana August Yearling Sale and were rewarded with three sales, including the fifth most expensive lot at the sale and turning a 37,000gns purchase into €250,000.
Many of you will remember Sheikh Fahad’s first Gr.1 winner, Lightening Pearl, who landed the 2011 Cheveley Park Stakes. Since she has retired to stud, she has produced six winners headed by Gr.3 winner Lightening Quick and Stakes-placed Matenro Diva in Japan.
Lightening Pearl is also the dam of a stunning colt by Siyouni who Tweenhills sold this week at Arqana for €1.25m to American Racing Corps. We cannot wait to follow his career and wish his new connections the best of luck.
Tweenhills' Yearling Manager Scott Marshall said: "He’s been a pleasure to do from start to finish and took the travelling over and sale like a complete pro. Massive credit to the entire Tweenhills team who have played a huge part in his success. We wish him all the luck for the future and are looking forward to following his journey as it progresses."
Another mare you may remember from her time on the racetrack is Know It All, who became her dam’s third Gr.3 winner when taking the 2020 Derrinstown Stud Fillies Stakes and finishing a close 3rd in the Gr.1 Prix Rothschild.
Know It All’s 2022 filly by Kameko sold for €170,000 at last year’s Arqana August Yearling Sale and Tweenhills sold her currently yearling – by New Bay – this week for €200,000 to Peter and Ross Doyle.
Pinhooking is very risky business, so it was great to be on the right side of a trade when our filly by Starman out of Estonia sold for €250,000 to Avenue Bloodstock/Parkland Thoroughbreds/Medallion Racing having been bought as a foal for 37,000gns.
