Big 2021 on cards for Havana Gold

Tweenhills stallion Havana Gold will have a crop of 140+ quality two-year-olds to run for him next year, all bred the spring after he was crowned Leading First-Season sire in Great Britain in 2017.

Qatar Racing has had success with progeny of Gr.1 winner Havana Gold courtesy of dual Gr.3 winner Treasuring and debut winners Raid and Worship, who ran in the QIPCO 2000 and 1000 Guineas’ of 2018 respectively.

Treasuring was sold to Katsumi Yoshida for 500,000gns at the 2018 Tattersalls Mare Sale; Raid now runs as Realism in Hong Kong; and Worship is part of the Tweenhills broodmare band.

Also part of the Tweenhills broodmare band are three mares that will have Havana Gold running for them in 2021, all carrying the Qatar Racing silks.

Ralph Beckett has won three times with Stakes performer Lady Dragon’s first foal Afraid of Nothing and he will train the mare’s chesnut daughter by Havana Gold next season. She is currently with experienced pre-trainer Tim Rusbridge local to Tweenhills and has been very straightforward, a key trait with the progeny of Havana Gold.

Hugo Palmer has won with the first two runners out of Stakes performer Stroll Patrol – namely Mused and Hot Touch (both born and raised at Tweenhills) – so it’s only right that he will train the mare’s bay Havana Gold filly in 2021. She has already been broken in and has plenty of size and scope.

The Stakes performer Gertrude Versed will also have a runner by Havana Gold next year, a bay colt who has impressed throughout his breaking in. He shows the good attitude towards work that is typical of his sire’s stock. The mare has already produced a winner in Santillana and young trainer James Ferguson will be excited to receive his Havana Gold colt in the new year.

As a proven Gr.1 sire with a son at stud, Havana Gold represents outstanding value at £7,500 for the 2021 breeding season. The big crop upcoming contained plenty of quality mares and were conceived at a stud fee of £15,000 so we fully expect some stars amongst them.

Now is a great time to use Havana Gold, at a reduced fee with plenty of upside, so contact us to secure a place for your mare in his 2021 book (+44 (0)1452 700177).
