Lezoo G1 win

Lezoo is one of several Zoustars entered in Newmarket classics

01 Mar 2023

Tweenhills stallions well represented in Guineas’ entries

Sons and daughters of Zoustar and our departed friends Roaring Lion and Havana Gold have been entered in the Gr.1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 6 and 7.

ZOUSTAR has Qatar Racing's Zoology in the colts’ classic, the 2000 Guineas, and three fillies in the 1000 Guineas: namely Gr.1-winning 2yo Lezoo, unbeaten Couplet and Gemstar (the only unraced horse entered across both classics).

Zoustar has more entries in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas than any other European-based first-season sire of 2022. His daughter Lezoo, winner of last year’s Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes, is 14/1 fourth-best in the betting for the 1000 Guineas.

Couplet has been purchased by Lezoo’s owners Andrew Rosen and Marc Chan since her impressive winning debut at Haydock in September.

Also in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas is Roaring Lion’s daughter Running Lion, a homebred dual winner for David Howden. She was born and raised at Tweenhills and is open to plenty of improvement this year.

As well as Zoology in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, there’s Gr.1 winner Dubai Mile and Qatar Racing's Lion Tamer (another born at Tweenhills) representing Roaring Lion.

A Roaring Lion classic winner would be highly emotional for us at Tweenhills, as would a 2000 Guineas winner by Havana Gold, whom we lost last week. His unbeaten son Streets of Gold holds an entry in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas.
