Fourth Stakes Win for Havana Gold

Less than a week after Headway gave Havana Gold his third Stakes success, along came number four when Barade won the Listed Prix Maurice Caillault over 1800m at Chantilly.

Barade was sent off as outsider of the six-runner field yet came out on top in a tight finish from favourite Boomboom Kiss. Barade was making his debut for trainer Nicolas Clement, having previously been trained in Sweden where he won a maiden at Jagersro in October.

Barade clearly possesses the good attitude that's becoming a trademark of Havana Gold's progeny and, with two three-year-old Stakes winners already this year, it's clear that the stallion's offspring are training on well. Another son, Sotomayor, broke his duck last month.

Barade is out of winning Anabaa mare Statia, who is a half-sister to several winners include the dual Gr. 2 scorer in France, Silver Pond. Barade was born and raised at the Haras de la Huderie near Deauville. The gelding carries the colours of Finn Blichfeldt, and our congratulations go to all those associated with him.
