Havana Gold breezer realises 260,000euros

Fresh from the success of his first two-year-olds on the track, two of Havana Gold's progeny sold for significant amounts at Arqana's 2017 Breeze Up Sale at Deauville last week.

Tweenhills' Manager David Redvers was the purchaser of both, acting on behalf of Qatar Racing Limited. The first was Lot 79, a colt from Mocklershill Stud out of the placed mare Woodmaven, who is a half-sister to the Gr.1 1,000 Guineas runner-up Arch Swing.

He was purchased for €100,000 and will go into training with Richard Hannon who was, of course, very much part of the operation when his father Richard Hannor Snr trained Havana Gold to win five races, including the Gr. 1 Prix Jean Prat.

David's other purchase was a filly for €260,000, which makes her Havana Gold's most expensive offspring sold at a breeze-up sale (pictured and breeze video below). She was a wildcard entry sold by Michael Murphy's Longways Stables and is out of the Grade 2 winner in America, Up In Time. This is also the family of star European sprinter Overdose and the dual Gr. 1-placed mare Musicanna.

"We're really excited by this stallion," said Redvers. "This filly did a really fast breeze and she's out of a very good racemare. We've bought three today and haven't decided on trainers yet but this filly will be raced in partnership with a client of Ghislain Bozo's Meridian International."
