Havana Gold continues his run of success

Havana Gold continues his run of success as a first season sire with Boomerang Betty winning the Best of British Festival 1-3 July Maiden Stakes at Windsor tonight on her debut.

She was the eighth individual winner for her leading first season sire, also successful at Royal Ascot just last week with Headway finishing second in the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes.

Trained by Jamie Osborne for the Melbourne 10 Racing Partnership, the two-year-old filly came home best and made a winning debut in determined fashion. She got better as the race developed and knuckled down when asked for everything. She's evidently speedy although there is stamina on the dam's side.

Jockey Dougie Costello said: "Boomerang Betty is very honest and Jamie's two-year-olds are in great form. She's very straightforward and stays well."

Bred by Awbeg Stud, Boomerang Betty is the first foal out of the Royal Applause mare Arbeel, a half-sister to Stakes winner Telwaar from the family of multiple Gr.1 performer First Waltz.
