Havana Gold registers his 23rd individual winner

Havana Gold registered his 23rd individual winner on Wednesday when the Qatar Racing-owned Worship made an impressive winning debut at Kempton.

Qatar Racing's racing manager David Redvers purchased the two most expensive horses by Havana Gold sold at the breeze-up sales this year and both of them - first Raid and now Worship - have made winning debuts for trainer David Simcock.

Worship, who was bought from Longways Stable for €260,000 at Arqana in May, beat the colts in the Cindy Fuller Novice Median Auction Stakes over six furlongs at Kempton.

Well backed and given a great introductory ride by Oisin Murphy, Worship reeled in eventual runner-up Desert Doctor inside the final furlong and won by a cosy half-length, with a further two and three quarter lengths back to the third, favourite Count Otto.

Like all by Havana Gold - including his leading performers Havana Grey and Treasuring - she showed a fantastic attitude.

Worship's win was part of individual trebles on the day for both Simcock and Murphy.

Worship was bred by Roundhill Stud and J. S. Investments. She is out of Noverre mare Up In Time, who won a seven-furlong Newmarket maiden for William Knight before being transferred to Simon Callaghan in North America, for whom she won the Gr. 2 San Clemente Handicap over a mile.
