Kameko son to target Derby
Kameko’s Royal Ascot-winning son Generic has been sold to continue his career in Hong Kong with the 2027 Hong Kong Derby next March his target.
Generic only made his debut in March and, after chasing home Constitution River in the Listed Dee Stakes at Chester, he improved again to win the Gr.3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot by a length under James Doyle for trainer Andrew Balding.
His victory attracted the attention of bloodstock agent Will Douglass and Hong Kong buyers, and they clearly made owner Jeff Smith an offer he couldn’t refuse for the 3yo gelding.
Generic will now continue his career with new trainer to Hong Kong, James Cummings, former private trainer to Godolphin in Australia and grandson of legendary trainer Bart Cummings.
He is Timeform-rated 111 and his new target will be the Hong Kong Derby next March. We are sure he will make his mark at the highest level in the country.
Generic was bred by our own David Redvers, Rathmore Stud’s Peter Molony and trainer Henry de Bromhead out of Makfi mare Adalene. He was a fantastic purchase by Smith’s Littleton Stud for €62,000 as a Goffs November foal.
We wish his new connections the very best of luck.
