Lightning Spear filly makes it 2 from 3

Vaux Le Vicomte looks a smart prospect for her sire Lightning Spear after winning her second race from three starts at Clairefontaine on Monday.

3yo Vaux Le Vicomte had made a winning debut in May and got straight back to winning ways after 7 weeks off on Monday. Under Cristian Demuro for trainer Maurizio Guarnieri, Vau Le Vicomte won the Class 2 Prix Aixtreme Tattoo over 1m at Clairefontaine by 1¾ lengths from useful winners by Camelot and Siyouni.

Vaux Le Vicomte looks an absolute bargain now with her owner Rangio Farm having paid just €26,000 for her at the SGA September Selected Yearling Sale in 2021. She is out of Cape Cross mare Tuileries, who Is also the dam of Stakes-placed Chelsea Gardens. Vaux Le Vicomte was bred by Grundy Bloodstock S R L, who raced Tuileries with trainer Pascal Bary. Congratulations to all involved.

Lightning Spear is also the sire of impressive Irish winner Brighter London and multiple winners Umming N Ahing, Destiny’s Spirit, Keep Warm and Greased Lightning etc. Lightning Spear is currently operating at a strike rate of over 42% winners-runners!

Lightning Spear has stood at Tweenhills since retiring at the end of 2018. He has stood the last four seasons at just £5,000. His sire Pivotal went from a stud fee of £5,000 to £85,000 and Pivotal’s son Siyouni went from €7,000 to his current fee of €150,000.
