New Stakes winner for Havana Gold

Tweenhills sire Havana Gold recorded his seventh individual Stakes winner when Hariboux took the Listed Pasadena Stakes at Santa Anita last Saturday.

Havana Gold's son Hariboux gained his second success since being switched to the United States when winning the 9-runner Pasadena Stakes over a mile on turf by a length, with three and three quarter lengths back to the third.

Trained by Jeff Mullins for owners Red Baron's Barn LLC and Rancho Temescal LLC, Hariboux powered to the front a furlong from the line to beat Smooth Like Strait. Hariboux was ridden by Umberto Rispoli.

Just like his jockey, Hariboux began his career in Europe, winning three of his five starts as a two-year-old in 2019 for Hugo Palmer. At 11,000 guineas as a yearling he proved an extremely good buy for agent Philippa Mains and his original owners Kremlin Cottage IX, who presumably sold him for significantly more!

As is a common feature with progeny by Havana Gold, Hariboux has a fantastic attitude and takes his racing extremelt well. He has won five of his 10 starts.

Hariboux was bred by Lady Gillian Brunton out of Sir Percy mare Royal Warranty. Hariboux's third dam is Gr.1 Ascot Gold Cup and Gr.1 Prix Royal Oak winner Indian Queen.
