Next stop Royal Ascot
Havana Gold will be represented by yet another two-year-old at Royal Ascot following Headway's impressive victory in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Chester today.
The colt quickened well off the home turn and ran on strongly in the straight to win this comfortably by 3l, for trainer William Haggas and owners the Royal Ascot Racing Club. He had previously finished second on his debut at Newbury in April.
Bred by Whatton Manor, Global Equine and L Stratton, Headway is out of On Her Way (Medicean), a half-sister to Chater Way (aka On Our Way), a multiple Stakes performer including being placed in the Royal Lodge Stakes, Cathay Pacific Jockey Club Mile, Sha Tin Trophy, Stonehenge Stakes and Hong Kong Classic Mile.
Headway capped a great week for his first-season sire Havana Gold, who also sired the Stakes winner and Royal Ascot bound Havana Grey.
