Zoustar: sire of Oceans Four
Tweenhills-born and raised Oceans Four wins Gr.3
Zoustar 2yo Oceans Four has come a hell of a long way in a short space of time, winning a Gr.3 in France last Saturday, and now looks set for a crack at the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
Oceans Four was conceived, born, raised and grazed at Tweenhills, by our international stallion sensation Zoustar and out of Lope de Vega mare Savanne Sauvage. The mare’s other runner was Stakes-placed miler Blatant.
Oceans Four was bred by Paul Frampton and Antony Thompson of Widden Stud, where Zoustar stands in Australia for AU$275,000.
The juvenile is trained by Brian Meehan and, having been supplemented for the race, was ridden to Group success by Christophe Soumillon. He only began his career in mid-July when down the field as a 50/1 shot at Newmarket, but he was much improved to win at Ffos Las and then ran a blinder when 3rd in the Gr.3 Solario Stakes, beaten two noses.
Meehan said: "He's a lovely horse who I think the world of and he keeps improving. He improved again today and he had to quicken off a slow pace, while from what I heard beforehand, we beat some very nice two-year-olds."
Oceans Four showed a good attitude to prevail in the Gr.3 Prix des Chenes upped to 1m at Chantilly, which will continue to stand him in good stead – hopefully that incudes a big performance at Del Mar on Saturday 1 November!
