Yet more 2yo success for Havana Gold

Havana Gold's flying start with his two-year-olds of 2021 has contined apace with wins for Gift Horse at Wolverhampton on Wednesday and Hopeful Melody at Lyon Parilly on Thursday. Also, three-year-old Havagomecca won again on Thursday.

Gift Horse gained deserved reward for two placed efforts when making all in the five-furlong maiden at Dunstall Park, showing the Havana Gold attitude in the closing stages to hold off the runner-up.

Gift Horse was bred by Lady Fairhaven out of her Listed-winning Polar Falcon mare Cool Question and was consigned by Barton Stud when bought by Rabbah Bloodstock for just 13,000gns at the Tattersalls October Book 3 Yearling Sale.

Hopeful Melody had gone very close on debut and went one better upped to six furlongs at Lyon Parilly, also responding very generously to her rider's urgings. She also changed hands at Book 3, a great purchase for her trainer Eoghan O'Neill at 9,000gns, and is out of the Dubai Destination mare Prewar.

Havana Gold's three-year-old daughter Havagomecca had won on her return at Newcastle in April and she got back to winning ways in a handicap at Haydock. She was bred by Mrs S G Lidsey out of Trans Island mare Bikini.

Havana Gold is also responsible for three of the eight runners in the Listed National Stakes for two-year-olds over five furlongs at Sandown on Thursday evening, namely unbeaten Chipotle, Little Earl and filly Fabiosa.
