A million dollar yearling for Zoustar

A colt by Zoustar - who is currently undertaking his second Northern Hemisphere breeding season at Tweenhills - made A$1,100,000 at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, which was staged online.

The colt (pictured) is a full brother to none other than triple Gr.1-winning sprinter and Champion 3-year-old filly Sunlight, as well as Gr.3 winner Sisstar. He was bought by Hawkes Racing from the Widden Stud draft.

He became the most expensive Zoustar sold at auction, eclipsing the A$1.075m spent on a half-brother to recent Australian Derby winner Quick Thinker.

Hawkes Racing have been very active at the sale securing four cracking colts - including this exceptional son of Zoustar.

Bred by Widden Stud in partnership, he is the seventh foal of Gr.3 winner Solar Charged who is also the dam of stakes-placed Sheikha. Solar Charged has no weanling but is now back in foal to Zoustar.

Also at the sale, another Widden offering by Zoustar, this time a filly out of Lucky Angel made A$360,000 when selling to A Cummings Thoroughbreds NSW. Her dam is by Redoute's Choice, who is also the sire of Zoustar's dam Zouzou.

Another Zoustar to hit the A$300,000 mark was out of Commands mare Fools Gold who was bought by B K Racing NSW out of the Burke Bloodstock daft. Like many of Zoustar's smart offspring she has Danzig blood close up on her dam's side (Sunlight, Zousain etc).

Also currently in foal to Zoustar is Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner Mabs Cross, who is out in the paddocks at Tweenhills. We cannot await the arrival of her first foal next year.
