Another two Group 2s for Zoustar

Another week and another two Group 2 winners for Australian sire sensation - and Tweenhills shuttler - Zoustar courtesy of four-year-old fillies Sunlight and Haut Brion Her at Flemington on Saturday.

Sunlight had already won eight Stakes races - including three Group 1s - before she lined up in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes over 1200m.

She justified $2.25 favouritism with a determined performance from the front, winning by half a length from second favourite Santa Ana Lane. Sunlight is trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy.

Less than a length back in third was another of Zoustar's progeny, recent Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality winner Zoutori.

Sunlight is now likely to line up in the $14million Everest at Randwick on October 19 - the richest turf race in the world, in which she will take on European raider Ten Sovereigns.

Haut Brion Her is yet to finish out of the first two in eight starts (as well as three barrier trials) and won the Group 2 Blazer Stakes over 1400m by three quarters of a length from Godolphin's Pohutukawa.

Hout Brion Her has been brought through the grades by Chris Waller. She is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Karacatis and Stakes winner Shamillion, and is intriguingly out of a daughter of Redoute's Choice (also the sire of Zoustar's dam Zouzou).

Haut Brion Her is the 11th Stakes winner for Zoustar and the first Stakes winner anywhere whose pedigree features the Redoute's Choice double cross.
