Another Winner for Zoustar

Zousain, a son of first-season sire Zoustar, carried the Qatar Racing colours when getting up late to make a winning debut at Royal Randwick on Wednesday 7 February...

Zoustar, a very promising young sire in the Southern Hemisphere and part-owned by Qatar Racing, supplied his second two-year-old winner when his strapping son Zousain beat six rivals in the 1000m tab.com.au Plate.

Ridden patiently by Kerrin McEvoy, Zousain showed a great attitude to squeeze through a gap between runners 200m out and battle all the way to the line, winning by a neck.

The colt's trainer Chris Waller, who trained Zoustar himself, said: "He is a most promising colt. He has so many of the attributes of his sire Zoustar, if you look at a photo of this horse and him, they are so alike."

It looked a potentially strong race too - Godolphin's two runners finished second and third - and Zousain is another exciting prospect for his sire, alongside 2yo Magic Millions Classic-winning filly Sunlight.

Zousain was a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Edinglassie Stud by David Redvers/Mulcaster Bloodstock. He races for Qatar Bloodstock and a large group of Waller stable clients including Richard Pegum, who bred the colt.

Zousain is out of Irish-bred Elnadim mare Pasar Silbano, who was trained by Ger Lyons and won four times as a two-year-old in 2008, including a five-furlong Listed race at the Curragh. She also finished second in a Gr. 3 in North America for James Cassidy.
