Awesome 2yo Zoustar filly wins Listed race
Miaharris, bred and raised at Tweenhills, looked a potential superstar as she flew home late to maintain her unbeaten record in the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes for 2yo fillies over 5f at Newbury on Friday. Zouky made it a Zoustar double on the card when winning the 7f handicap.
Zoustar filly Miaharris had made an impressive debut at Sandown in late-July and was sent off favourite for the Listed St Hugh’s Stakes against eight rivals, including unbeaten dual winner Majestic Beauty, Gr.2 Queen Mary fourth Juniper Berries and Listed-placed Indispensable.
With Jim Crowley suspended, Oisin Murphy got the ride on Miaharris and, after briefly getting caught behind horses, she showed a superb turn of foot to get up late from Majestic Beauty and Tears of A Clown, who had been bought privately and changed trainer since her win in May.
Miaharris undoubtedly hit the line with something in hand and promises to be hard to beat in Group company next time, with the step up to 6f likely so suit. She’s trained by Owen Burrows for Oli Harris.
Miaharris is a horse we know extremely well at Tweenhills as she was conceived here – by our stallion Zoustar out of Holy Roman Emperor mare An Ghalanta – bredand raised here. Miaharris was bought by Durcan Bloodstock for 210,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale in April.
An Ghalanta is also the dam of 2yo Listed winner Time Scale, narrow Gr.3 Albany Stakes runner-up Bletchley, and multiple winners Skontonovski and Melbourne Hall. An Ghalanta has a yearling filly by Kameko and a colt foal by the same sire.
The Zoustar double was completed in the following race when Zouky streaked clear in the 7f handicap. Zouky had won both her starts as a 2yo and returned to form with a vengeance for James Doyle and Philip McBride.
Zouky is out of Tobougg mare Kerry's Dream and was bred by Bumble Bloodstock Ltd.
