Expensive Zoustar filly wins impressively

3yo Zoustar filly Crimson Coronet got off the mark with a smooth victory in a Wolverhampton maiden on Tuesday for Charlie Fellowes and Andrew Stone’s St Albans Bloodstock Limited.

Crimson Coronet had cost 210,000gns as a yearling when sold by breeder Hascombe & Valiant Stud Ltd to Blandford Bloodstock. She was sent into training with Charlie Fellowes in Newmarket.

The Zoustar filly showed ability in December on debut and improved when second to the very promising Alhattan at Newcastle in January.

She went off odds odd in a maiden over the extended 1m at Wolverhampton and won convincingly, always prominent and scoring by a length in the hands of Callum Shepherd. There should be even more to come.

Crimson Coronet is out of Stakes-winning Teofilo mare Crimson Rosette. Crimson Rosette is a half-sister to Crimson Ribbon, the dam of 2023 Gold Cup winner Courage Mon Ami and 2023 Stakes-winning Roaring Lion colt Lion’s Pride.
