First European yearlings by Zoustar to sell at Arqana August Yearling Sale

The much anticipated first crop of Northern Hemisphere yearlings by Australian Phenomenon, Zoustar will go under the hammer at this year's European yearling sales.

Already the sire of seven million dollar yearlings in his native Australia, Zoustar will be represented by six yearlings at the first yearling sale of the season, the Arqana August Yearling Sale.

First through the ring will be Lot 105, the first produce of exciting young mare Thrust Home, who was placed at Listed level on multiple occasions. Being out of a Fastnet Rock mare, the colt is bred on the successful Fastnet Rock/Zoustar cross which has already produced the likes of Persuader, winner of the Listed Twilight Glow Stakes in Australia and who herself sold for $360,000 as a yearling.

Another exciting yearling at the sale is Lot 134, a daughter of Zoustar out of the Stakes winning mare Arabda, whose first foal by Pride of Dubai was the highest-priced filly to sell by the sire at last year's yearling sales. Arabda is by Elnadim meaning that the filly is bred on the same Elnadim/ Zoustar cross as Zousain, who was a Gr.2 winner at two and multiple Gr.1 placed at three. Zousain, who cost $400,000 as a yearling, now stands alongside his sire Zoustar at Widden Stud in Australia.

Lot 162 at the sale is a filly by Zoustar out of the Stakes producing mare Dardiza. The filly is a half-sister to Gr.3 winner Guildsman, who was also multiple Group-placed as a 2yo. Dardiza's only other produce to go through the ring was a Siyouni filly, now names Isle Of White, who sold for €250,000 at Arqana in 2019.

Haras D'Etreham offer Lot 181, a Zoustar colt out of Fortitude, a dual-winning half-sister to recent Gr.1 winner Broome and this year's Listed Chesham Stakes winner Point Lonsdale. Other notable names on the pedigree include Gr.1 winning 2yo Zoffany and Gr.2 winning 2yo Rostropovich.

Lot 224 is a Zoustar colt offered by Haras D'Haspel out of exciting young mare Meandering. Meandering who has already produced two winners from two runners, is a full-sister to Gr.2 winner Up (dam of Gr.1 placed Monarch Of Egypt) and a half-sister to dual Gr.1 winning sprinter Dutch Art.

The final yearling by Zoustar featuring in the sale is a filly out of Saccharose, offered by Ecurie Des Monceaux. Saccharose herself is a winning daughter of Exceed and Excel, meaning that like the majority of Zoustar's best progeny in Australia the filly will be inbred to Danehill. From a limited number of runners out of Exceed and Excel mares, Zoustar boasts a strike rate of nearly 65%.
