FIRST WINNER FOR CHARM SPIRIT

Charm Spirit had his first winner today when filly Diviner won the Download The At The Races App Novice Auction Stakes at Wolverhampton by five lengths.

Diviner had been sent off joint-favourite for a Class 3 fillies' conditions race at Salisbury on her debut but the heavy ground scuppered here there. She made no mistake over five furlongs at Dunstall Park, soon in front and never for catching under Joe Fanning for Mark Johnston and the Kingsley Park 8.

Diviner was going one better than her paternal half-sibling New Queen, owned by Qatar Racing, who'd gone close to giving Charm Spirit his first winner when making her own debut at Bath a week ago.

Diviner was bred by Ennistown Stud and is out of Mark of Esteem mare Water Fountain. The mare was unraced but had cost 180,000 guineas at the breeze-ups. She's a full sister to French Gr. 3 winner Spring Oak and is out of smart winner English Spring.

Diviner was purchased by her trainer for €14,000 from The Castlebridge Consigment at Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.

One of our four Charm Spirit's to follow could make his debut this week as Qatar Racing's Wiretap is in a Class 2 maiden at York on Thursday. He's trained by David Simcock, who celebrated his first Classic success when Teppal won the French 1,000 Guineas on Sunday.

Charm Spirit is standing the current breeding season at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France and will return to Tweenhills ahead of the 2019 breeding season.
