Gr.2 double for Zoustar in Australia

There was yet more success for Zoustar in Australia last Saturday when two of his progeny won Gr.2s.

Five-year-old mare Haut Brion Her had already won a Gr.2 last October and she added another to her CV in the 16-runner Sheraco Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill Gardens last weekend.

While the pack were closing late, Haut Brion Her had been in front a while and won a shade cosily in the end under James McDonald for Zoustar's own trainer Chris Waller.

Haut Brion Her has earnt her connections over A$500,000 in prize money. She is out of One In A Million, whose sire Redoute's Choice is also the sire of Zoustar's dam Zouzou.

Zoustar's other Gr.2 winner on Saturday was five-year-old gelding Zoutori who won back-to-back renewals of the Bobbie Lewis Quality Stakes over 1200m at Flemington.

Trained by Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Zoutori was ridden to narrow succes by Mark Zahra. Zoutori has earnt A$715,425 in prize money.

“He’s a good straight horse and he’s particularly good fresh which is a big advantage,” Ellerton said. The trainer added they would look at starting Zoutori in the feature mile races such as the Cantala Stakes at Flemington.

Zoutori is out of Haradasun mare Atotori.
