Kameko 3yos wins impressively at Yarmouth
Kameko’s son Generic built on the promise of his debut to win at the second time of asking in a 1m novice at Yarmouth last Saturday. He looks a 3yo to follow.
Generic had shown lots of ability when a close 2nd at Kempton on his debut in late-March and, though he again faced the horse that beat him, Enemy Agent, he was able to reverse the form at the seaside track.
Under Oisin Murphy for the first time, Generic made all of the running and stretched clear approaching the 1f pole. His winning margin was 3 lengths over favourite My Mate Roger, who had finished a close 2nd at Kempton on his own debut.
Generic is trained by Andrew Balding for owner Jeff Smith, whose Littleton Stud had bought him for €62,000 at the Goffs November Foal Sale when sold by Galbertstown Stables.
Generic was bred by Adalene Partners. His dam Adalane (by Makfi) was owned by Qatar Racing and housed at Tweenhills when she was covered by Kameko in 2022 but was sold to Rathmore Stud that December carrying Generic.
Adalene is also the dam of Stakes-placed Crohanne. Generic looks a horse firmly on the way up and it’ll be great to track his progress this year.
