Kameko as a racehorse
Kameko: a sire of smart 2yos
Kameko was a Gr.1-winning 2yo – and a debut winner – and it’s worth reminding breeders that he can get you a very smart juvenile as a stallion.
The leading lights from Kameko’s first crop were New Century and Wimbledon Hawkeye, both among the best 2yos of their generation.
New Century had the subsequent Gr.1 winner Field of Gold well behind him when winning in the June of his 2yo year and he added the Listed Stonehenge Stakes and Gr.1 Summer Stakes to his CV that year. He was rated 108 by Timeform. Not bad given his dam did not run as a 2yo.
Wimbledon Hawkeye won on debut in May of his 2yo year and took the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes, as well as finishing placed in the Gr.1 Futurity Stakes, Gr.2 Superlative Stakes and Gr.3 Acomb Stakes. He ran to Timeform 111 and is also out of a mare who did not run as a juvenile.
Kameko’s second crop contained Five Ways, who won by 5 lengths last August and followed up in the Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes. He improved again when fourth in the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes and starts 2026 with a Timeform rating of 102.
Rajeko was a 2yo debut winner for Kameko in June 2024 and ended that year running to Timeform 96 in winning a second novice in December.
American Gal won both her starts as a 2yo that October and November, running to Timeform 83, and would do even better in 2025 by landing a Listed race in France and going very close in an Ascot Gr.3.
Hawksbill was a 2yo winner who ran to Timeform 93 in finishing fourth in a Listed race. Three days after Hawksbill won in August 2024, Kameko filly Likely Perspective made a winning 2yo debut before being sold to the US.
Other Kameko 2yo winners in 2024 included Juddmonte homebred Ardeur, who scored by 6 lengths; Spell Master, who dead-heated in maiden company before two excellent efforts in nurseries, running to Timeform 92; and Ghost Run who won twice and ran to Timeform 85.
Returning to the Kameko 2yos of 2025, Spinning Lizzie won on debut in May, competed in the Gr.3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and then ran to Timeform 87 when beaten a neck in a competitive nursery.
Kamakameleon also ran at Royal Ascot 2025 after winning in May, beaten just over 2 lengths in the Listed Windsor Castle.
Kameko has sired many smart 2yos, both colts and fillies. Call our Nominations Team now to book in your mare – 01452 700 177.
