Wimbledon Hawkeye: big-earning son of Kameko

11 Sep 2025

Kameko tops tables on prize money and Stakes horses

Kameko has enjoyed a fantastic few weeks with Wimbledon Hawkeye and Five Ways landing Group/Graded races on different continents, and his leading status among second-crop sires is borne out in the statistics.

Kameko is the leading European-based second crop sire by progeny earnings across the globe with his runners having accrued £1,703,618 for their connections this year.

That puts him ahead of Ghaiyyath (£1,529,882) and Sergei Prokofiev (£1,329,698); the former sire of Opera Ballo and Mandanaba, and the latter sire of Arizona Blaze and Mhally (who has himself earned over £250,000 after his two wins and 3rd in the Saudi Derby).

Kameko’s best runners are New Century, who won a Gr.1 as a 2yo in 2024, and Wimbledon Hawkeye, who won the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes as a 2yo and gained reward for many good efforts (inc. in the Gr.1 2000 Guineas) when landing the valuable Gr.3 Nashville Derby Invitational Stakes at Kentucky Downs recently.

Kameko is also the leading European-based second crop sire by average progeny earnings (£20,776) with 50+ runners. That puts him ahead of Sands of Mali (£17,388), the sire of Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup winner Time For Sandals and fellow Royal Ascot winner Ain’t Nobody, and Ghaiyyath (£15,147).

As well as New Century (RPR 115) and Wimbledon Hawkeye (118), Kameko is the sire of American Gal (104), Jackknife (103), Rajeko (102), Hawksbill (102), Defiantly (93) and Norse Derby winner War Socks (93).

He’s also the sire of recent Gr.3 Sirenia Stakes winner Five Ways, who had also won his novice by 5 lengths. He looks a very exciting 2yo sprinter.

Kameko is also the leading European-based second crop sire by percentage of Stakes Horses (8.5%) with 50+ runners. That puts him ahead of Sands of Mali (7.6%) and Pinatubo (6.5%), sire of Qilin Queen, Saddadd and Diablo Rojo.

Kameko will stand his sixth season at stud at Tweenhills, Gloucestershire in 2026.
