Most expensive Zoustar 2-year-old named

Several of Zoustar’s first Northern Hemisphere 2-year-olds have been named, including his most expensive European yearling of 2021…

The colt by Zoustar out of Rue Cambon (Exceed And Excel) sold for 310,000gns from Yeomanstown Stud to White Birch Farm / Demi O’Byrne has been named Alexis Zorba by his owner Peter Brant.

The name comes from the novel Zorba The Greek, which is about a young Greek intellectual who tries to escape his life with the aid of the mysterious Alexis Zorba. The equine Alexis Zorba is reportedly in training with Joseph O'Brien.

Another six-figure Zoustar yearling who has been named is the filly out of Threetimesalady (Royal Applause), sold for €110,000 from Manister House Stud to Peter & Ross Doyle/M Herinckx. She has been named Oh Sweet Tabu by her owners Team Wallop and is in training with Richard Hannon.

Bond Thoroughbred Limited have named their £95,000 Zoustar colt out of Melbourne Memories (Sleeping Indian) Reginald Charles, presumably after the late owner Red Bond. David O’Meara trains a 55,000gs Zoustar filly out of Coral Sea (Excelebration) named Just Janet.

Qatar Racing sent three Zoustar two-year-olds to Wesley Ward in the US and two have officially been named: they are fillies Starstriker (out of Gr.3 winner Lightening Quick, daughter of Gr.1 winner Lightening Pearl) and Stars On Fire (out of Gr.2 Queen Mary third Out of The Flames).
