Coedana: new Stakes winner

22 Jun 2026

New Stakes winner and 2yo debut winner for King of Change

Not only did Kameko enjoy a stellar week but so did King of Change, who sired his fifth individual Stakes winner when Coedana won the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes. He also had another 2yo debut winner in Ireland.

Coedana has bridged the gap from handicaps in 2025 to Stakes races in 2026 in fine style, gaining reward for placed efforts in the Listed Daisy Warwick and Gr.3 Lester Piggott when winning the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes.

Coedana showed a fantastic attitude to edge out Revoir by a neck at Pontefract under Connor Beasley and will continue to go well in similar races for trainer Ed Bethell and owners Julie and David R Martin and Dan Hall

Bethell said: "She's in the [Gr. 2] Princess of Wales's Stakes and she's going to get a few options, but the race I'd really like to have a look at – and I know it's shooting for the stars – is the Yorkshire Oaks.

"That's in the back of our mind because it's normally a small field and we could get some Group 1 black type for her owner-breeders.

"She's improving and when fillies get on a roll like this you don't know their ceiling.”

Coedana was an excellent purchase for just €40,000 by Blandford Bloodstock at the 2023 Goffs Orby Book 2 Yearling Sale. She was bred by Highpark Bloodstock Ltd out of Mr Greeley mare Acts Out Loud – the mare failed to win and ended her career rated just 49!

King of Change is 2 from 2 with his 2yos in Ireland this year, with Noble Agenda matching what Maggie Walker achieved by winning on debut.

Noble Agenda came with a strong late run to beat 12 rivals over 7f at Down Royal last week under apprentice Rory Mulligan and looks open to improvement. He was an excellent buy not once but twice as T&N Bloodstock bought him from his breeder Ballinafad Stud for €4,000 as a foal, and trainer Ciaran Murphy bought him from Beechlawn for €25,000 as a yearling.

Noble Agenda is out of winning Exceed And Excel mare Supreme Quest

King of Change continues to deliver results, and we cannot wait to see his first crop of foals from his first book of mares conceived at Tweenhills this year.
