“Outstanding” Zoustar filly sells for 400,000gns

A filly out of Exceed And Excel mare Saccharose became the most expensive Zoustar offspring sold in Europe on Tuesday when purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for 400,000gns.

She was consigned by Robson Aguiar’s ‘Aguiar Bloodstock Ltd., Ireland’ and was also ridden in her breeze by her consignor. Her bullet breeze clearly caught the eye of many prospective buyers.

A supplementary entry and catalogued as 81A, the last lot on the first day of the sale, she is out of a winner in France, herself a daughter of a Listed winner in Ireland.

Ross Doyle said of his purchase: “She’s an outstanding individual – I haven’t seen like that for a long time at the breeze-up sales.

“She’s taken everything like an old pro, great big ears on her and very relaxed.

“She appears to have an outstanding temperament as well, and obviously comes from a very good home – Robson’s done a great job.

“He [Zoustar] gets a very good-looking horse. We were lucky to buy two or three at the yearlings sales and they’re with Richard Hannon, who is very happy with them.

She was pretty special now, as a physical goes, and she breezed extremely well.”

This filly by Zoustar out of Saccharose will go into training with Richard Hannon.

Standing alongside Zoustar at Tweenhills are the fastest every 2000 Guineas winner Kameko (first foals in 2022), Havana Gold (the leading UK-based sire of 2yos) and Gr.1 Sussex Stakes winner Lightning Spear (first 2yos this year).
